EcoFest is a month-long celebration of the unique environment of Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland, and how we care for it. Four Auckland eco hubs have come together to host the festival, offering events, activities, installations and workshops for people of all ages and at any stage of their sustainability journey. The aim is to make sustainability fun and accessible, inspiring people to make simple changes to reduce their impact on the environment.

EcoFest will be taking place from Saturday 18th March until Sunday 16th April 2023.

EcoFest is organised in collaboration by four eco hubs in Auckland: EcoMatters Environment Trust, Kaipātiki Project, the Beautification Trust, and Waiheke Resources Trust. These four non-profit organisations have a combined 90 years of experience in environmental action.

EcoFest will have a wide variety of events, activities, installations and workshops across the Auckland region and online. From composting workshops to silent disco clean-ups, the aim is to make sustainability fun and accessible. There will be events for people of all ages and at any stage of their sustainability journey.

Individuals, community groups, non-profit organisations and businesses are welcome to host events as part of EcoFest 2023.

Events hosted as part of EcoFest 2023 can be in the form of activities, installations, workshops, and more, as long as they align with the theme of sustainability and environmental protection.

It is free to register your event as part of EcoFest. There may be direct costs involved in hosting your event, such as venue hire or materials, which are the responsibility of the event host.

To apply to host an event during EcoFest 2023, fill out the online registration form.

Once you register your event, your EcoFest supporting organisation will check the details, approve the event and add it to the website. It may take up to a week for your event to appear on the website. If your event still isn't appearing after a week, get in touch with your EcoFest supporting organisation. Mostly, yes! Some events are ticketed, but the majority of our 200+ events are completely free to attend. Those that have a cap on numbers may still ask you to register for free through a variety of methods (humanitix, Facebook RSVP, email). Please make sure to read the information about each event carefully.

No, you are welcome and encouraged to attend any and all EcoFest events that you can make it to. We would love for you to connect with people across Tāmaki Makaurau.
