A Bee Story
6:00 pm
Friday, 24 March 2023
Artworks Precinct, 2 Korora Road, Oneroa, Waiheke Island, 1081
Kids and their families will get a buzzy buzz out of this delightful, gravity-defying circus show celebrating the amazing talents, resourcefulness and resilience of bees. It’s a sticky situation, alright. After a bushfire wreaks havoc, a Queen Bee and Worker Bee must work together to rebuild their hive, despite things never quite going to plan.... Brilliantly performed by Robbie Curtis (Cirque du Soleil) and talented musician, clown and acrobat Liz McRae, A Bee Story is a veritable juggling act of circus, acrobatic, dance and live music entertainment. This instantly enchanting show is an ode to the pollen- collecting, honey-making, super-bee powers of the world’s most versatile insect – and an enlightening modern-day message on environmentalism, sustainability and community spirit.

Night Flight
7:00 pm
Friday, 24 March 2023
Ostend War Memorial hall, Ostend (start and end spot for bus tickets) or Te Toki road entrance to Te Toki Reserve, Ostend.
Night Flight is an adventure performance art walk outdoors at night, created by the community for the community. Recommended for Adults and children over 12 years old. Meet at Ostend War Memorial Hall where you will be taken to the reserve by bus. Please note this performance is a walking adventure at night on at times uneven and steep (ish) terrain (bush tracks). Please be prepared for a hike and wear closed-toe walking shoes, long warm clothing, mosquito spray and bring a backpack with reusable water bottle.
Night Flight is a site specific, outdoor promenade performance/walking performance at night. It is a journey through Te Toki reserve where we encounter isolated characters, lit up in the dark, struggling with their present thinking, with their thoughts of the future. The characters (and audience) find a reconnection to nature along the way and a metaphysical re-wilding emerges, a revolutionary carnival for all. We have the power, each and every one of us, to write our futures for better. Night Fight is a visual spectacle inspired by fair ground rides, encompassing physical theatre, puppetry and music. The project has support from Blake New Zealand, Ministry of the Environment and Waiheke Marine Project.
Due to the outdoor nature of the event please be aware that if the weather is bad the event may be postponed or cancelled last minute. Keep up to date on our event Facebook page for weather info: https://fb.me/e/2DUr7xPI6
The event is by koha but bookings are essential as the performance capacity is 40 persons max.
