Composting Workshop Whangaparaoa

At Whangaparaoa Library, this composting workshop will be facilitated by Pip and offers an introduction to how to compost with bokashi bins, worm farms and cold compost bins. Come and discover how easy it is!
Confirmed participants will receive a $40.00 discount toward the purchase of a composting system that can be redeemed online.

A slow walk through beautiful native bush pointing out flora and fauna on the way. Any ages welcome but steps involved and an uphill walk to return. Comfortable shoes, sunscreen, hat and waterproof jacket advised. Can still go ahead in wet weather.

Light Earth Building - practical day

Join us at this fun, hands-on day to learn how to use light earth (straw and clay mix) to insulate buildings with. You'll be taught how to make and apply this cheap, natural and effective technique that can be used in a variety of situations.
Please wear working clothes and closed shoes.
Bring your own lunch. This is an all weather event as we will be working inside.

Join our group of weekly volunteers, led by an expert ecologist to ensure that the native flora and fauna (including kākahi/freshwater mussels, titiwai/glowworms and pekapeka/bats) in this unique reserve are healthy and protected. Kaipātiki Project has been restoring and preserving the Eskdale Reserve since 1998, we look forward to welcoming you in.

Pest Free Hibiscus Coast will be at the Whangaparoa school gala giving out free long term loan backyard rat traps to people who live in the Hibiscus Coast area. We are working towards the goal of protecting the precious native wildlife present in the area by having one in every four households using a backyard trap to create a pest free haven.

This summer has seen a number of landslides in Auckland. The devastation that they have caused also presents a unique opportunity for restoration. Come along to a free workshop to learn how to safely restore slip sites. This classroom style workshop is a first introduction to what native plants will act as slip specialists in different situations and does not include information on GeoTech or hard landscaping remediation. Part 1 of a three part series on restoration of slip sites. Get inspired to transform disaster zones into thriving, stable, native habitats.
